Ribbonthulhu: The Con Funk Awareness Ribbon
Cthulhu fUNK-tagn
While at
Gencon 2005 I met a lady at the
Visionary Entertainment Studios booth named Erica (the red haired elf lady). The topic
of discussion was
"Con Funk", that unholy phenomenon caused by gamers, fanboys and other
convention attendees who decide to gather in crowds and skip showering and the
use of deodorant for four days. I thought there should be an awareness ribbon
for Con Funk it so I made one. I though Cthulhu was such a recognizable icon
amongst gamers and sci-fi fans that he would be the perfect spokes deity for the
campaign. I present to you the first prototype of Ribbonthulhu. As you can see he's easy to make.
You just need green ribbon, some sort of plastic eyes, glue and a pair of
scissors. An iron might also help to iron the ribbon into shape,
especially if you decide to have the tentacles going different directions. I
suppose pressing it in a heavy book would also work well. You should be able to
find some sort of fastener to affix it to you clothing at a local hobby or
fabric store. If you decide to wear one, send me
a pic.
