The world of networking is changing rapidly. This change is also affecting the nature and effectiveness of security appliances, devices, and policies. As Software Defined Networking (SDN) moves from the lab to production, there are a variety of use cases that will enable information security departments to gain greater visibility and control of these rapidly changing network environments. As the number of SDN technologies geometrically expand, it is critical for information security personnel to understand how these new technologies can improve their capabilities instead on inhibit them. Erik Freeland has been with Big Switch since 2013 and is currently the Director of Worldwide Pre-Sales Engineering. While at Big Switch, Erik has been responsible for most of the initial customer trials, sales, and early implementations. Before joining Big Switch, Erik spent 10 years working in the channel for Accuvant. During his time at Accuvant, Erik was part of the senior technical leadership, contributing directly to Accuvant,s growth from a regional security VAR, to the premier networking and security integrator in the United States.
